While it’s all about our usual business there are times we delve in to the entertainment and retail space.
For the third year Lodge Real Estate were our event sponsor for the NZ Mountain Film Festival. This is an important date in our calendar and as a small non-profit it’s the one annual fundraiser we run each year. We had awesome spot prizes donated by Outfitters RAB gear, Trek n Travel, Three Peaks Honey, Podium Lodge, Extreme Edge, Raglan Rock and Hospice Waikato. Our event was also plastic free.
Lodge is a local business and has worked in the Hamilton region for 50 years. We believe young people need opportunities to connect with the great outdoors and POET helps make this happen. We are proud to be the key supporter of POET’s annual fundraising event. Jeremy O’Rourke Managing Director and Leah Gordon Branch Manager
We called on one of our key sponsors, Pak n Save Mill St to help us out with snacks and drinks. “The team from Pak n Save Mill St are keen supporters of POET and the work they do with young people. In addition we also help out with special events, one of those being their annual fundraiser. Our bakery team were pleased to be able to contribute cupcakes for the 2019 NZ Mountain Film Festival”.
Everything was going really well until it was time to play the movies. Unfortunately there were some technical difficulties but our audience was awesome and we eventually got the show on the road. We weren’t put off and are planning for the 2020 festival in July this year.
Our most unusual business unusual has been selling pole-less tents on trade me. We’d been given some tents without bags or poles and wanted to clear them out of storage. Rather than heading to land-fill we decided to sell them. Who knew there was a market?
