Since 2003 Perry Outdoor Education Trust (POET), has worked with low decile secondary schools to facilitate the delivery of outdoor education experiences for students.
Each year 1500+ young secondary students experience amazing natural environments, are challenged in a safe way, and learn to value and protect the places where they play. Their experiences and sense of achievement increases their confidence, self-esteem and resilience, and enables them to see new possibilities for their lives.
POET provides experienced outdoor educators who work alongside teachers, building each school’s capability to deliver outdoor experiences. Schools can then run experiences themselves without relying on costly outdoor providers; a common barrier to participation.
POET experiences take place close to home, are low cost and help build connections between students and their local environments and communities.
