POET is committed to being responsive to Māori as tangata whenua.

Perry Outdoor Education Trust recognises that the Treaty of Waitangi/Te Tiriti o Waitangi is a founding document of New Zealand.

We also recognise that as a responsible ‘citizen’ of New Zealand, we have many opportunities to implement Te Tiriti actively and honourably in the way we operate and govern.

POET has made a commitment to honouring the constitutional and conceptual Treaty framework we operate within. This framework allows POET to express and celebrate the cultural diversity of New Zealand, while acknowledging the unique position of Māori as Tangata Whenua.
